grannies racing
Tomorrow graduation day at the Alexander Technique Center Amsterdam. Congratulations to Diana and Rolf, again two fine teachers going into the world to teach all these racing people some inhibition.
I bought them both a little present. Here grannie is posing on my refridgerator.

Een website over onrealistische schoonheid. Wat doet het onhaalbare schoonheidsideaal, zoals gepresenteerd in de media, met vrouwen?
A website about unrealistic beauty. What influence has the unatainable beauty-ideal as presented in the media on woman?
With an interesting documentary as shown yesterday on dutch television. The documentary mainly asks questions and is in that sense quiet light hearted, but near the end it is pretty disconcerting how woman are turned into 'candidates'.

Plaats Delict Amsterdam,
Crime Scene Amsterdam. Forensic Photography from Amsterdam's Police Archive 1960-1986

Early yesterday morning riding on my bicycle through the Vondelpark the police made me take a little detour. Obviously something was going on. Hundred meters further down the road, next to one of the romantic bridges close to the Filmmuseum, stood a group of fire man, an ambulance, a couple of police cars. Clearly visible under the bridge a person hanged himself. Being in the world is to have a posture. Leaving the world also involves having a posture. It looked quiet clumsy. This bridge is only one meter above the water. If there had not been a rope it would have looked as if this person was standing waist deep in the water fishing. Only last weekend I was looking in a cataloque of an exhibition full with photos of 'clumsy looking' postures.

Bodysong (www.bodysong.com)
Winner Best British Documentary Feature (The British Independent Film Awards)
Not only Oscars tell nothing about the quality of a film.
Lucky we choose to look at Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday after renting both these videos at the Moviecenter at the Oude Zijdsvoorburgwal. Yet alone the character of Jack Sparrow has more depth than 78 minutes of this heartless 'story of our lives told through moving images from around the world'.
